Long-Term Care Insurance FAQs

Why should I work with Krause for LTCI? What resources do you offer?

Our LTCI team provides expert guidance, insight, and training as well as competitive commissions on our products. We ensure you have access to the latest carrier resources while providing quoting and comparison tools to help you present the best solution to fit your client’s needs.

What is required to write long-term care insurance?

All writing agents must hold an active Health & Life Insurance License in the state they are writing along with any state certification courses. Most states require an initial eight-hour course with four-hour renewal courses every two years thereafter. Some states have additional state-specific continuing education requirements. Certain products also require additional training and certifications.

You need to be appointed by the carrier(s) you will be writing. In many cases, the appointment contract paperwork can be submitted with the first piece of business, but some require the carrier appointment prior to submitting business. It is best to contact our office prior to writing an application so we can verify your contracting requirements.

Do you offer training on long-term care insurance?

Yes! We provide online webinars, trainings, and downloadable materials on long-term care insurance. Some webinars and trainings are presented with our carrier partners, while others are done by our in-house experts. We also work side-by-side with advisors to make sure you have all the tools and resources you need to be successful. We do not offer the certification course, but we can provide you with a discount through WebCE.

Are you available to assist me with marketing and prospecting?

Yes, we can provide tips and pointers on prospecting and guide you toward a variety of marketing strategies. Periodically, we also have webinars on basic and general marketing for advisors. Once you are appointed with an insurance company, you will also have access to their company portal and marketing resources.

Is my commission paid by Krause or the insurance carrier? Can I split commissions?

Your carrier appointment is directly with the insurance company, so your commission is paid directly from the insurance carrier. Your appointment can be terminated for lack of production, but your commission remains vested with the insurance company. You can also split commissions with most LTCI carriers and products.

If I do not want to write the business for my clients, will you work with my client and write the business?

Yes, we have a team of agents that would be happy to assist your clients. They can fully write the business for the case, and you can be involved as much or as little as you prefer. Contact us to learn more.
